The Australian Conference on Optical Fibre Technology will be held jointly with a meeting of the Australian Optical Society.  ACOFT/AOS is the premier Australian conference for photonics and optical science and will showcase internationally competitive research in components, systems, networks and fundamental science within a lively networking environment.

ACOFT/AOS will cover a broad range of topics, with sessions on:

Access Technologies, Nonlinear Optics and Devices, Defence Applications, Systems and Networks, Electronics in Photonics, Biophotonics and Sensors, Photonic Components, Fibre Fabrication and covering a range of topics at the leading edge of optical science.

ACOFT/AOS 2006 will be held at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, from 10 to 13 July (Melbourne plays host to the Commonwealth Games in 2006). The conference venue lies in the centre of Melbourne’s central business district,  just a short walk to the Yarra river, Federation Square, art galleries, concert halls, the casino and Southgate entertainment complex. Of course, Melbourne’s famous tram network can whisk you to the beach or to one of the many restaurant strips around the city centre.

We shall be holding exciting networking events including our ever-popular conference dinner and are inviting local and overseas speakers to bring their latest research and developments to ACOFT/AOS. The conference will be a great opportunity to meet researchers, industry professionals and students and we will be organising a number of meeting points to facilitate networking and collaborations.
